I m planning on heading into east ruggedy on Stewart island.
Just looking at diving and hunting. Anyone got any info that could help?
What's the hut like with cooking utensils etc.

I have never been there but for utensils etc, go prepared as nothing is guaranteed. If its not bolted down it can be removed,
Lots of trampers, noisy kiwi at night, great white sharks hunting the surf.
And lots of trampers!
has been many a year, hunting ok at the time, blue cod amazing
Thirty odd years since I was there.
Nice benches true left down from hut.
Walked in from Long Harry, bumped three just over the top,not expecting anything I had my balaclava hanging over the bow quiver.
Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out
Been a while since staying there. Good spacious hut....was a lot of utensils but agree best not to rely on that. Flew in and out West Ruggedy beach...very exciting as the tide was coming in on way out. Lots of deer seen and 4-5 shot by the group (I only saw 1 in the distance bounding into bush). Kiwi running into you on the track best memory. Fishing off rocks without success (only handlines). Would like to do it again but better prepared.

and the kiwi's are f///ing huge !!!!
They sure are...not like a ram hitting you in the yards but I couldn't believe how big they were.
Kiwis can be a bastard when you step withen a metre of them and they bolt....
When you heading down @crocodiledavid oh and are you still looking for boots?
It's all fun and games till Darthvader comes along
I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.
As others have said a few trampers through there.
Big hut though and good fire place, running water etc.
Pauas off the rocks down at low tide if the surf /roll lets you.
Go down to the end of the beach to the hill face and glass the area of the old burn/clearings.
Some nice stalking through the bush and always the odd deer getting about the sand dunes.
