    Ebikes for hunting

    Hey peeps
What are eBikes like for hunting? Any good on the hills?
Can they get up them ok or do you still have to pedal pretty hard?
If you can get up the hill on a quad could an ebike handle it?
What sort of slope can they cope with?
If also got a mate with fucked knees. Could he use one and not have to pedal at all. So basically an electric motor bike?

loving the fact that they're pretty much silent

Considering getting one (or a bike conversion kit) and putting a good aike basket on the back plus a rifle holder on the front.

Love to know people's experience, recommendations, thoughts and opinions.

Especially on any specs you recommend or don't recommend

    Thanks in advance.

The ubeco? I think thays the name, set up for farming 2x wheel drive has racks/carrier low centre of gravity ect. I cant comment on the hills and stuff but i have a mate that uses one in the pines and he says he sees a lot.of animals from the bike he would never normally see.

That's what you'd have to research a bit if using on public land. Getting hard to distinguish between an E-mountain bike and an electric motorcycle these days.

Sort of...The Ebike is often dearer than the E motorbike.....

Ubco have their place, but there are others...At $6k-$8k there wont be many E bikes that are cheaper and do as much as the Ubco can...but that same money buys a decent quad bike....

    That's my thoughts.
Do I go ebike because it's quieter
Or just buy a good quad for the price

There's over 5 pages of info (some of it useful) over on the outdoor transport thread:

Yeah ebikes are really cool but you do have to peddle them and on a big hill you have to peddle hard.
They do have different power settings so you can run ours on turbo but that reduces the distance you can travel.
The furthest I've had out of ours is 95km but that's running it as low as possible on flat ground.
If you mate has a buggered leg get a full electric bike not a peddle assist

All dependant on where you’re wanting to use it. Hill gradient and water are there biggest downfall

Yeah the thing that has put me off them is the fact that if you get into water up to or over the level of the hubs you risk stuffing the electric motors. Then you have a $8000, 200kg back pack

Depending on budget and where youre hunting, tuatara make a side by side electric version. I know nothing about it but ibhear good things about the diesel version.
