    Electrical tape

Took the rifle for another walk this weekend. I found some potential spots to keep in mind for future such missions but unfortunately no deer to be seen on this one.
Something for your amusement, however - I somehow managed to detach the entire sole from one of my second favourite pair of boots. Luckily I had a roll of electrical tape in the pack and was able to improvise to make the 8km track back to the car without too much trouble.
Probably shouldn't knock the boots too much - they're almost 5 years old and I should be able to have the sole glued back on easy enough once they dry out.

CW, show the value of a roll of tape in the bacpack. My experience is reglueing soles on boots is a temporary fix and you'll always be carrying tape just in case.

Had that happen with a pair of meindals walked into a hut overnight planning to go further up river to another hut - up in morning to find both soles 50% separated - stayed around first hut for a night tied/tapped them up and got out ok. Bush stalking with boots going plop plop plop not terribly successful

I carry a roll of red and a roll of blue. Useful for marking where a shot was taken from when recovering a animal for example.

Breaking shoe laces is another one that slows you down. I've had to improvise once with Nylon cord I use to hang deer up with. Worked well.

I thought you were going to say different colors for different feet.

Had a full roll of tape day recently too. Thankfully not my boots but mates boot came apart about 20mins from vehicle, managed about 16km out of it. Can’t beat a good bit of tape.

Its generally the mid sole thats perished due to age rather than mileage.

If you can see fellas wrapping silage,go see if they have roll of silage tape.box of cool beers should see you heading homewards with what is quite simply "the shit". Two wraps around boot tops replaces gaiters and laces not coming undone if put on barrel it stays put.

Quite a few years ago a bunch of mates and I did a 2 week sojourn to Stewart Island after Whitetail and blue cod. Turned out that insulation tape was in everyone's kit boxes, and it became a point that whenever someone asked for some insulation tape to fix something, the rest would all retort "What colour?"
