Farmer I worked with in New South Wales on the table lands lost 34 one night while we were there. Smelled like roast beef his daughter reconed. Lots of trees were fried there. Had to be uber careful with the drill rigs as an 8m mast atached to a drill rod sunk past the water table is the ultimate lightening rod. Closest strike was 200m. Suddenly out of the drizzel there was a white wall 200m away. Then lighting shot down the front of it, then it passed over us and within 3 minutes there was 4" of water on the ground.
Thunderstorms are epic.
