    Envy

I am envious of the hunting pix with suppressors!! I take it, this is an OK thing. I wish America would adopt some of that logic. Many mountains of paperwork for us to have a suppressor and very few states (if any) allow them for hunting.
What kind of P/W is required in NZ??

Nothing extra for a suppressor, just buy one, and get rifle threaded to fit.

What is the reasoning behind NOT having them over there? Health system will loose money if everyone keeps their hearing?

That's it. Some new rifles are already threaded.

We might get suppressors but we have some strange rules regarding stocks and magazine sizes

Lol health system. Makes more money the more people use it.
    Very very expensive. NZ rules.
I think the Americans are scared of Washington sniper like scenarios.
The L.A. gun fight is a big driving factor for a lot of California's rules i think.

    @cowboybart

In NZ our gun laws are tough on "military style semi automatic" weapons.

An AR15 is OK for the average nz firearms licence holder ("A" category). But it must have the stock and handgrip connected (ie not freestanding pistol grip) plus a max magazine size of 7 (I think) rounds.

To go for a larger mag or a classic military style stock it's a separate licence category/application process.

I'm sure we could both share the inconsistencies in our respective firearms laws designed to keep the citizens safe!!!

    Welcome to the forum btw

The only paperwork in NZ is the paper that comes out of you wallet with $$$'s on it.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

The vetting and issuing process for an "A" cat licence in NZ takes roughly eight weeks minimum.....

1:1 interviews of applicants spouse and another referee are mandatory

Focus on mental well being and if any gang associates are now a conspicuous element to that process in NZ

What's the process in your neck of the woods @cowboybart ?

@Gibo Anachronistic piece of legislation which was in part brought about in an attempt to address the gangster problem at the time (Al Capone and Co).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act

There is a bill to remove suppressors from the NFA:

Could New Legislation Free Suppressors From Legal Limbo?

Buying a shotgun or rifle-bolt, semiauto or pump, usually takes $$ plus 1-3 hours with instant background check sometimes 3-7 days if you have a more interesting background at least in Alaska.

You don't even have to show a Firearms licence here to buy a suppressor, only need to do that for buying rifles and ammo.
There are a number of companies in NZ manufacturing them as well.

I saw an episode of life below zero where some guy had a rifle that definitely had one fitted to a bolt gun
