    Exterminate deer

Below is an extract from a 1080 poison resource consent issued by Tasman Unitary Council in response top an application to poison Kahurangi park by TB Free NZ

Consent was non notifiable to the public and issued April 2015.

    VIZ:--
The Council considers that the adverse effects of the activity on the environment will be no more than minor for the following reasons:

    (a) The applicant is to place notices on all public entry points to the treatment area to alert people to the discharge. In addition, a public notice is to be placed in the local paper. Given the proposed measures, it is reasonable to expect that anyone entering this area will be aware of the discharge and will be able to take precautionary measures or avoid the area. The most probable exposure route will be water and this is dealt with in (d) further on.

    (b) There have been many studies into the effects of 1080 on non-target native species. In general, it has been found that while individuals may be affected by the toxin, native populations benefit, particularly from the eradication of possums and other pest species. The use of 1080 in New Zealand is reasonably widespread mainly for the control of possums. The effect on native species is documented after these operations.

The effect on native plants and animals will be less than minor from the application of 1080 and in the medium term the effect on the health of the native ecosystem will be positive.

RS5 cereal baits will be used as the RS5 baits break down more quickly than other baits in the environment reducing the risk to birds.

The Kahurangi National Park Management Plan (KNPMP) refers states “In line with the National Parks Act, all animal pest species have to be exterminated as far as possible by the Department using the most efficient and appropriate means available, including hunting,

trapping, biocontrol, ground baiting and aerial poisoning”. The KNPMP is a statutory document that anticipates the potential use of aerial poisoning and animal pests should be exterminated as far as possible.

Reduction or extermination of the fallow deer in the National Park is likely to have a positive overall benefit to the environment. Noting that the definition of environment includes the hunters and the community, as well as biodiversity/natural values, the overall environmental effect of removal of fallow deer as a consequence of the 1080 use considered to be positive (the coloured highlighting of the consent is mine)

    and-- Notification and Affected Parties

The adverse environmental effects of the activity are considered to be no more than minor. The Council’s Environment and Planning Manager has, under the authority delegated to him, decided pursuant to Section 95 of the Act that the application did not require public or limited notification.

This consent is granted on 28 April 2015 under delegated authority from the Tasman District Council by:

That's the first time I've seen it in writing that they are targeting deer, they always say they aren't.

Since we as hunters are part of the environment how is the extermination of deer a benefit to me.
Since 1080 is not targeting anyone deer.

cancel their passports so they cant travel overseas to the south island to do this?.....

seriously tho , I know its a job to them and they probably don't care about maintaining herd numbers.... but I sometimes wonder if they get in there and actually do kill everything they see or do they think "up yours politicians I'm gonna let this mob go to keep the numbers up"
this of course would give them repeat business (no animals to cull = no job) and might also help them justify it to themselves as I'm sure they consider themselves hunters

    scotty; your joking of course!

The policy is to exterminate all "non native species" from any and ALL national parks.

DoC and their NGO mates have historically been vying to change the status of RHA's into "Forest parks' with national park type management plans as well.

People , including hunters are being smothered with PC b/s in many outdoor magazines and other media but the reality is plain to see in almost any poison resource consent and management plan of regional councils.

A few, such as Taupo District and Whakatane / Opotiki Districts have insisted that regional plans recognise the value to their communities and fiscal structure of wild animals for hunting and fishing and lobby for management of these introduced resources as opposed to extermination.

Hunter apathy is allowing the continuation of the deeply entrenched government anti wild animal ideal to remain.

They have been targeting deer and pigs for a few years now and you in dream land if you think its just a by kill trying to get rid of rats etc. Some guy I was talking to recently was once involved with the posion drops, he said they was 1080 and enhanced 1080. The enhanced 1080 as he called it was used for pigs and deer where they wanted to reduce numbers more than just dropping standard 1080.
That's what he said anyway and from what ive seen in the bush, esp with pigs its clear it knocking them overall far better than 10 years ago so they certainly target deer and pigs, have no doubt

They better start clearing out the cows, pigs chickens and any other so called non native species. Then replant all the swamp land, plant the trees that were felled for timber at the tun of the centry, the list would be extensive. Some one has to be making a lot of money from 1080 drops as we know its banned in many other countries and they arnt even classed a s clean and green like NZ

As I said they will take away your food source if you are not paying tax on it . next will be to disarm people then control then control .My theory is buy up firearms for your children so they have them to use .
