Thread: Fallow and Red deer summer rainy day behaviour

I have a spot consisting of a hilly sheep and beef farm surrounded by bush which holds reds and fallow. Are either more likely to come out onto pasture or clearings on rainy days? Will they be more likely to come out earlier (PM)or stay out later (AM) than on sunny days?

Rainy days lower Thier guard somewhat,silly humans won't be out.best of all is just after a big downpour,bush n scrub is soaking,much nicer out in sunshine. I've just seen two pair of fallow within 300 yards of busy road both pair were feeding happily after an earlier shower of rain.

Fallow don't mind the rain. Reds not so much. Misty drizzly stuff and after rain everyone is out 'cos they seem to like the dressing on their salad. True story.

I've found the opposite down here fallow hate the rain and reds right out in the open

Those was after it had been raining earlier today, about 3pm. @Padox will recognize where it is. Young stag and what was actually a pretty good older stag out in the open, right near a busy road also. Shit photo as I probably shouldn't have been taking photos..

May have missed the rain there was bucketing down either side of it!

Reds. Saw a heap of deer on the way through this time in a few different spots, red and fallow. Big mob of fallow in one spot...

I've seen reds in pouring rain to get to spring feed.When they are hungry,rain don't bother them,but it bothers me.

Once its been raining for a while it's just as wet in the bush as in the open
So they will both be in the open during rain

I have seen fallow out in the light rain there before, late morning but late summer. Could tomorrow mid avo be productive given the forecast's for showers/rain?

I do rate drizzly misty evenings or mornings for deer but a lot does depend on hunting pressure to much and its night time to come out

Yeah I don't think it's too pressured so hopefully will go alright

I think the big decider is what's happen with the wind when it's raining. Cold southerly or warmer northerly/westerly and how hard it's blowing.
