I can tell you right up that hunting a Fallow in 40 acres can be a challenge (and $1200 is an ok deal for a good buck).
I say this (about the challenge) 'cos I have experience of finding a single deer in a patch of bush.
I shot a deer with a Paxarm when I was collecting live animals and it bolted and must have laid on the dart or whatever and the transmitter never kicked in. I went out the next morning and picked up the beep so I thought I would at least shoot it. The little scrub block it was in was a bout 80 acres. Well, I tracked it on the beeper for a couple of hours and it was always parallel to me and on a different ridge or gully. In the end I thought I was hot and onto it. Cocked my gun and sneaked in...and there was the dart laying in a clearing with a bit of meat on the barb. Deer are bloody smart!
If you want a good Fallow, go for it. No shame.
