    Fat deer

Took a welsh fella hunting over the weekend. Saw plenty of deer and a few chamois mainly on a favourite doc area of mine. He managed to roll over his first ever fallow buck and first chamois, so was a very happy man. On our last evening hunting we stalked a mob of young fallow bucks. Once within range I told him to shoot the fattest one. I think he did well...more fat than back steak here! Been a good season obviously...

That has certainly had no shortage of good fodder. Seldom see that even up the back where the pasture is good.

That is probably the least lean deer I have ever seen!

Where'd you shoot him? Otara outside a KFC or something?

How do you get that fat eating grass. I've never shot a fallow that really had any measurable fat on them... it just goes skin then meat.

Beef cattle do and I have seen the odd fallow deer with fat but certainly not all that often.
