Google earth is a good way of finding clearings. Then just a matter of finding them in the area you are hunting. It can be a bit harder to find deer in winter at times, but the time you spend now will make it easier for spring when they are more active.

this is how i found alot of my spots......... look at aerials to pick out spots deer woould like to be based on clearings ,slips, sun , type of vegetation etc then transpose those spots onto a topo map to see how hard they are to get to (need to really understand how a topomap works and you should know this anyway) then get out there to either confirm or write off an area ....... (alot are seasonal and or time of the day dependaent to so something to remember)
