    fire arms license auckland

Just popped into the north shore office today to discuss and get advice for myself
on obtaining and going ahead with FAL.
What threw me off was that the price is already at $126 which I have no problem with but
they informed me that they are raising the cost to $400+ because it seems everyone is trying out
For their license.around October November they will be raising the price.correct me if I'm wrong.
It's just what the local horse told me today.just a heads up incase your planning to get the youngins a Fal.

Do it now before the price goes up. and them saying they are putting up the price is just them, being them. it's not real till it's real. anything to discourage people seems to be the mantra.

We pay 300 Au $ per application ( for every firearm) $127 / year for licence.
We just had the $%#s take our big calibre guns away- it was a rumour for 3 years pushed through parliament in less than 3 weeks, using the American school shootings as justification. A lifestyle involving guns and killing sadly goes against the grain of h WOKE brigade who would rather see a 40 yr old male in the girls changeroom, claiming right of expression or some sheit than see another deer hurt. Fk we had it easy when we were young! Bought a gun from the farm coop. Paid the $1 duty stamp. Goto copshop. WhCopper wrote out license, back to dealer for pick up. At which point u add a 22 and shottie as they didn't need a licence

Whover told you that is either mistaken or lying....Official statement released this week reads:

A summary of submissions was completed and provided to Ministers in May 2023 to inform their decision making.

Police has now been advised by the Minister of Police that the Government’s decision is unlikely to occur before 2024. This means there will be no changes to the licence fees for the time being.

Police consulted firearms users and the public on the fee proposals from December 2022 to March 2023. For a firearms licence fee, only partial cost recovery options were presented. They were 25%, 50% and 75% of the recoverable costs.

Full cost recovery was not an option.

As Cabinet noted prior to consultation, when a decision is made on fees it will need to consider the benefits of greater user contribution against the risks of non-compliance, and the public interest in maintaining a well-functioning arms regulatory system.

The final decision will be informed by feedback from submitters and will be in line with the requirements in the Arms Act 1983 and the Treasury guidelines for settings fees and charges in the public sector.

Second Rushy’s statement. The process will take some time and it will never get cheaper so just get into it now.

And yes, welcome aboard. There’s a great mix of ages, experiences, and personalities here, not to mention a wealth of knowledge readily shared.

    Thank you for your response.
I thought it was a wild accusation to make for a clerk.this has put my mind at ease and the pressure taken off to get it in a hurry which was not my plan.
I'm purchasing the physical copy of the latest Arms code tonight.and study it well.
I have done the practice tests also on a whim and got 80% correct.

Well done @JAFFA177 get into guns now and you'll never have enough cash left over to get hooked on drugs.

Seriously though you can use this waiting time to look at what type shooting you want to get into and what toys you'll need. As you're not in a rush you may be able to find a cheap safe so you're ready once you apply for your FAL

It seems the process to get a FAL (especially in Auckland) has been turned up a notch. My dad applied for his license in March I think and got it a few months later. Compared to the 14 months it took me when I applied in the start of 2022

Mainly just looking to get into hunting.some sort of rifle.
I figured I'd probably use my air rifles for small game.as there is no bag limits on rabbits or Pigeons doves.and a little possum shooting but no eating them.
Hunt deer and goat duck any kind of meat to put on the dinner table that is wild.and my best bud have made a 5 year pact that we'd go on a hunting trip together haha.
Possums and rabbits I'd like to use their fur to make bed rolls for camping.all long term goals.no rush.
Trying to find a rental as insane as it sounds a little more rural than. Glenfield haha

As an aside and thinking renewal of fal, what is the earliest one may apply for renewal? Months? YEARS? A mate has his expiring in 2026 and contemplating ultra early renewal.

Understand if you renew early it's dated from renewal date, not expiry of old license.
