Thread: First Heli Tahr trip

Wanting to go for a good Tahr trip this November. Only ever walked in before. Want to keep it east coast but could do west cost.
Who's a good reliable heli company to use that wont break the bank. Thinking 4 guys and don't want to pay more than $600 each.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Station air out of Mesopotamia lots of options and places to go out of there

I've used Rakaia Heli a couple times and they've been fantastic

You won’t get 4 guys and your gear in one Load in the a 500 ! Mesopotamia will be your best bet price wise and as 300 said lots of options from there .

Another shout out for Prouts at Station Air. Get hold of them and tell Sue your budget and what you want to do and they will sort it for you. Very knowledgeable, and Prouts is a good bastard.

If you are going to the west side, Mountain Helicopters are worth a call.
NB as above a 500 would be maxed out with 3 guys and gear so you are probably looking at a Squirrel, Eurocoter AS350.

Can't recommend as I'm new but steer clear of companies using Robinson helicopters. They're cheap so a lot of companies fly them. They are dangerous even for experienced pilots though. Google "Robinson helicopter mast bumping".
