Thread: First time tahr hunting

Planing on heading down south to Canterbury in December was wondering where are some recommended places/spots on hunting tahr (100% on that I’ll see tahr) I have a 4x4 but not planning on crossing rivers.

A lot of people start with a walk up somewhere like bush stream just past Mesopotamia station. I shot my first one up there.

There are few guarantees in life. You'll see what you see.

I would tend to go into some easy country, could try the walking track on the right at lake Tekapo, when the track turns left just keep heading up the CK, they start moving around 3 pm.oops daylight saving, make it 4 pm.
