The language there leaves it very unclear. One reading of it is that they were poaching - aside from the fact that hunting is not allowed currently.

The cynical view is that someone breaking lockdown rules is a better headline, especially as hunting has featured in the debate over what should be allowed under Level 3 restrictions. In the normal course of events poaching doesn't rate much attention.

The media conveniently omitted to mention if one of the group actually had a firearm let alone all five having firearms

So, poachers, trespassers, in possession of firearms without a licence, in breach of lock-down, but Stuff decides the worst thing they've done is illegal hunting? I guess I'm not surprised.

Anyway, I hope the judge throws the book at them, and then some.

Great article. Reports people deer hunting, show picture of a duck hunter with a shotgun.

On the story, there is a heap of missing information here. Apart from not being allowed to hunt because the Fuhrer said so and they were on private property, out of the 5 people, did only one (the one with the licence) have a rifle, or did they all have rifles? They dont say.
GUN CONTROL IS A TIGHT 5-SHOT GROUP.

There might have only been one rifle.

More likely to get in deeper trouble for unpaid parking tickets than poaching so hopfully they go for a skate with the lockdown side of things

Cops around BOP getting a fair amount of calls from rural adresses hearing shots on or near the property.

'Illegal hunting' term would be in relation to poaching, nowt to do with lockdown, that could possibly be extra charges, although I doubt it.

Shit like this pisses me off. Which part of stay the fuck at home didn’t they get? None of us want to be in lockdown especially at this time of year but most of us are complying. Dumb fuckers are always gonna do dumb shit I suppose.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
