Forest and bird on the attack

Watched an interview on tv1 Breakfast this am with Kevin Hague from Forest and Bird with some rather extremist unbalanced views.
Apparently our game animals are causing climate change by destroying the forests ???
Seems they are all set to start a war against our game animals once again.
Seems all those thousands of tons of aerial 1080 operations just aren't enough any more!

I watched a good interview between Mike Schillenberger and Jordan Peterson. Schillinberger use to be an ardent environmentalist until he realised the parallels between the prophecy of doom etc of environmentalists and depression.

They are just more sycophantic commies feeling their way into the wellywood kremlin. Seeking approving benevolence from the politburo.

I was just rereading Deer in NZ by David Yerex, variations of people like Hague have been doing variations of this crap for the best part of 100 years and the deer etc are still here. Interestingly it mentions DOC had a trial down south to help train recreational hunters most of who were only getting one deer each a year. Doubling or tripling that would make a huge difference and cost the taxpayer a fraction of a 1080 drop.

I read something the other day....published by Tony Orman 1981....written by John Anderson some time before...
the use of the helicopter as a tool for game management opens up endless possibilities as these same characteristics make thar the easiest big game species to manage for sport hunting in this country, population densities, sex and age ratios and location of every group can be known for every season of the year and management carried out as when where and to whatever degree necessary, the effectiveness of the helicoptor as a weapon cannot be doubted as it has brought what was the largest thar herd in the world to the brink of extintion in less than 5 years.
I now find myself in the invidious situation where in my life time I have shot more than twice as many thar as there are remaining alive in the world today....

read that twice and let it sink in..........

I suspect that all the deer, possums and goats would struggle to have the same impact on the environment as a coal fired power station

Were the historic browsers every at the levels that deer are now? Especially considering the reduction of the amount of native vegetation, since these browser existed.
It’s hard to argue that deer numbers don’t need to be reduced.
