I was just rereading Deer in NZ by David Yerex, variations of people like Hague have been doing variations of this crap for the best part of 100 years and the deer etc are still here. Interestingly it mentions DOC had a trial down south to help train recreational hunters most of who were only getting one deer each a year. Doubling or tripling that would make a huge difference and cost the taxpayer a fraction of a 1080 drop.
