Anyone lost a 223 mag at the Sunrise carpark in the Ruahines. I've got a photo of it, but do not recognize what type of mag it is - hoping to return it to whoever has lost it. Found yesterday....

Anyone know what type of mag it is?
looks like a euro style one like a brno or something.
Looks like a tikka to me, least ways very similar to my one.
orange tips=NBTs single stacked rounds, narrows down the options....
Tikka model 590, I think?
If you want it to go to it's rightful owner I would not be posting a pic of the Mag I would say found and then it's up to the person who lost it to tell you what it belongs in or anytime Tom Dick or Harry could claim it .
definitely wouldn't be saying that had ammo in it either think that'd be a breach of some law.
Are you on any of the local hunting FB pages? I found a near new Swazi anorak on Kuri hill. Found the owner in 24hours. He could tell me what was in the pockets with accuracy so I'm pretty confident I got it to the right man.
If your not I can post on your behalf.
Thanks @kiwijames - can you post on behalf? (Might be the first time an "on behalf" has been put on another platform "on behalf"?)
Just as well it wasn't the 308 size version!
@Nickoli I've messaged you. We may have found an owner.
I have left my boots at home so had to hunt in socks :)
Someone, somewhere has a nearly new Schultz and Larsen Suppressor of mine. Probably donated at the Taupo range a while ago:omg:
Left boots at home once, had to walk in to hut in runners held to my feet with paracord and insulation tape (the runners were my truck comfy driving shoes as they were buggered:omg:)
Left rifle behind, but fortuitously bumped into a mate walking out whilst I and another mate walked in, so borrowed his rifle for the week!
Left knife behind. Shot an animal, then had to bash two stones together down in the riverbed to get a sharp edge so I could gut the animal and get back to the hut, where my mate and his nice sharp knife would be waiting...
Left sleeping bag behind in winter. Had to sleep sandwiched between two hut mattresses. Never did that again!
In 50 years of bush shenanigans you are allowed to forget stuff occasionally.
The OP most probably took the mag out and put on top of the wagon whilst he put everything else into his ride, changed into comfy clothes, jumped in and took off forgetting all about the mag sitting on the roof...
I left one of the sleeping bags behind once, but it was my mate who slept between two mattresses, and he had all of my spare clothes on as well. He still reckoned it was freezing!
I think that was the last time he came hunting with me...
More recently I forgot my lunch when I headed out for a day hunt, I didn't enjoy that so now I put an A4 sheet of paper with "LUNCH!!!" written on it on the drivers seat of the wagon.
Usually forget stuff when off to the range, ammo, suppressor and just last weekend earmuffs so it was 22 only.
On hunts left my spoon behind a couple of times which is freaking annoying, cup also very annoying but also my mag once which turned into one of the most exciting bush hunts ever.
Yep, we have all done it.
But for a fair few years now I've used a check list. Pretty rare I get caught out now. Print it out for most trips.
Leave a note on the kitchen bench to use in the morning too. Lunch is usually at the top of the list. Lol
Done the mattress sandwich when I left sleeping bag behind .

Was in Scone Creek Hut back in about '68 or '69 and a helicopter arrived piloted by Goodwin McNutt with Peter Harker along for the ride. Peter was wearing carpet slippers and had nothing bu a radio with him, Goodwin took off to do something expecting to return to pick up Peter, but there was some sort of breakdown and he couldn't get back. So we had to feed Peter for a couple of days before he decided to walk out in his slippers - never did catch up with him to ask how he got on.
All these forgetfullness stories make this old coot feel waaaaay better :)
7-10 days without knife fork and spoon up the Whakatane River.
Pre dehy days when we cooked.
Now you take 1 spoon.
oh all right I shall start a poll so you lot feel better...should be worth a laugh.
My old Gsp knew how useless I was and saved me multiple times when I got up from lunch or glassing and left something behind. She would walk back to it and bark at me if I tried to call her or carry on was bloody unbelievable.

Lost a good folder that way.
Saw a ridiculous American show where a guy butchered a goat with a broadhead
Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.
Left everything behind once . . . . . just went for a walk.
A mate of mine sharpened a teaspoon handle on a rock one evening after he forgot his knife. It worked, but there are better tools.
