    Gaiters

I’m sure this has been done to death but I’m
in the market for some new gaiters.
Has anyone used the Wilkins Can as ones? NZ made and pretty damn cheap. Twin needle seem to be sold out and the cactus ones look good too.
    Any recommendations?
Would prefer NZ made ones but can live without it for the right product

What do you primarily use them for? I wear mine mainly for keeping my feet dry and wear my pants over top of them. In that function I love my Kuiu Yukon gaiters.

Twinneedle might not have any stock themselves, but their retailers might. Shop in town where I am usually has them

Mainly to protect my lower legs. If I don’t wear them I get banged up pretty easy. I must have sensitive shins or something. Keeping water and crap outta my boots is a bonus.

I couldn’t find where they sell their gear on their site. What shops sell it?

Was really hoping someone had some experience with the Wilkins ones as they’re cheap as at $50. Most of the cheap ones (under 100) I’ve purchased have been crap. Maybe I’m answering my own question here. But being NZ made I was hoping for a decent product

Ive got a pair of green gaiters (that I can’t find right now!) that are basically a tube made from wet-suit type stuff.

I pull them on before putting my boots on the then pull the lower part of the gaiter down over the boot top.

Warm, keep most water and leaves etc out - and are quiet when pushing through bush.

Only negative is that they are hook-grass friendly.

If I find them I’ll post the brand name

I use these, they’re self supporting and well shaped.

10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

I bought some putties from this place few months ago use them every day and no sign of weakness so I imagine the gaiters are good aswell. NZ made $105 free shipping. https://www.mountainhighclothing.co.nz/product/gaiters/

Do they not have loops under the boots? You obviously find they work ok without them?

+1 for the bushbuck gaiters. I have zero complaints about mine. Waterproof, silent, fit well. Have worn mine on the last 10+ hunts without issue. Some slight wear on the inside ankle protective bits, but that’s most likely just from touching as I walk

Best thing for loops under the boot is a piece of bike tube. Have it nice and tight and it pulls up snugly into the arch of the sole.

Lasts ages but is easily replaced when it does go

Give it a crack, you won't regret it

Yeah the putties have the hole for the under boot strap but I don't use it. I don't know why they haven't got the same hole thing on the gaiters but I'm sure they could put it on them.

I'm guessing some options mentioned are no longer available. This is still a good compilation of members opinions though, on aspects such as toe hooks, zips (or no zips), materials & noise when stalking, experience with keeping water out, and so on.
By chance I read through the whole thread last night.
