    Garmin 700i

I want to register my gps so i can use the SOS mode, I remember seeing a nz site that you can use instead of a US site, which has a quicker response time.
    Is it Trackme.co.nz
    Thanks

I doubt it's any quicker response, I think the SOS signal goes to Garmin via the Iridium network, no matter who you register with.

PLB's are different, the alert is passed on to the rescue centre in the country of registration, so that can make a difference.

the montanas need to run through the garmin satellite network, no the same as a plb network. it uses an SOS. beleive me if you want or not, whatever,.

If you sign up with Trackme in Christchurch at Hornby opposite Gun City they monitor the SOS function 24/7 and it is fairly quick but not as quick as a dedicated PLB.

When I looked into the subscriptions, doing it through Garmin was a lot cheaper for what I wanted

If you want to know how the Garmin response works

    https://support.garmin.com/en-NZ/?fa...o51ib0Zh8L4El6

There’s pro’s and con’s to both PLB and InReach SOS. The biggest difference is the communication.
Help will come in both instances. But with InReach, you’ll know when the help will arrive, and for the rescue team, they’ll know what they’re in for when they arrive (assuming you’ve communicated what your emergency is.

InReach SOS gets set off in NZ more often than you’d think.
