    Glencoe hunting

    Hi team,

After advice/tips from anyone who's hunted in the Glencoe Block near Waianakarua. Got a ballot block for the roar, looks like camping will be the only way to go in for a few nights as there's no huts? First roar for me and the fellas going in, as I'm just getting into hunting. Got a few fallow (got lucky!) near Queenstown where I live, but haven't gone for Reds, or anything during the roar.

    Thanks all,

Good block with plenty of deer and roaring action.
Quite steep and rocky in places but also some really good areas to hunt as well.
Save our Tahr. They belong in the southern alps.

Good numbers in there, can br tricky hunting in the bush but Google earth is your friend. Should be an exciting block for the roar.

Also, there's the camp ground at the bottom of Mt misery road. You might be best to camp there and plan your hunt from the start of the block each day as, from memory, the areas in the block you'd want to pitch a tent are usually the areas worth hunting.

Can't help with info on the block sorry, but there's some bloody good threads on here with tips and advice for the roar/roaring if you have a poke round. Certainly helped me. Best advice I read on here (and have learned from going in with guys who know everything) is don't roar too much. These clowns let rip every couple of minutes, and it shuts everything up quickly. But you guys will work it out for yourselves pretty quickly by the sounds of it! Good luck, and looking forward to hearing all about it!

Identify your target beyond all doubt.
