    Goat in a tree!

Desperate to get out for a hunt, but with limited time, I bit the bullet and went in to Northland bush for a goat hunt. Managed to track some animals down. Noticed something in the corner of my eye, a goat high up in a tree! When it saw me, it came bounding down and I had a brain failure to be honest. It's coat was grey and brain said possum, then brain realised it was too big for a possum, and said big cat! I know it sounds really stupid, but it moved so fast. I was all over the place and didn't even get a shot away!

    It does happen.

    Shouldn't be allowed.

Goats amazing where they go. We farmed goats up until about 20 years ago, I found several dead ones stuck up in high branches where they had fallen and hanged themselves, usually by the horns.

Brain telling you 'possum' while seeing something the size of a goat coming at you would have made you think about furry vengeance for all those small possums you've killed?

Maybe. Big cat or possum, either way, I don't mind admitting that I shit myself at that moment 😂

Shot a few in trees when bailed by dogs, they will certainly climb for food.

back when they were worth silly amount of $$$$$ in the 80s ,we caught many hundreds of them, the old mans heading bitch got very cunning and learnt where leaning trees were just into the bush off the main tracks, she would work goats towards tree and bail them up it.... Ive shot them up trees before too.

First goat I ever shot was up a tree. Could hear him bleating and as i came around a large bush there he was standing way out on large tree coming out of a bank at about 45deg. Was my first night stuck out in the bush to as our planned return turned out to be supplejack he'll so it was a welcome feed.
