Thread: Goats in Hawkes Bay

Hi guys,

I'm based in Hastings. Been out to the Ruahines and Kaweka about 6 or 7 times. Seen quite a bit of sign and one deer, but never managed to shoot a deer.

So, with the zero success rate on deer, I was very keen on some easier targets such as goats.

I tried door knocking on about 15~20 farms between Tangoio and Kotemaori, both on SH2 and off the side roads.
Unfortunately all of the farmers were reluctant to give permission, both for goats as well as for smaller game such as rabbits and turkeys. They were mainly concerned about health and safety, which is understandable.

Looking into the Doc website, it seems like Doc land in Hawkes Bay doesn't hold any goats.

The only other place I can think of are Forestry blocks. Does anyone have any tips? Would appreciate any kind of help.
