    Goats in the hawkesbay

    Hi all,I'm new here,have posted in the introductions post,
    My question is my boy is about to celebrate his birthday and would like to have a crack at a goat or two,does anyone know of somewhere in the bay I would be able to go so he could get a shot at some,
    Any advice greatly appreciated,

    The raukumara range will hold a few. A quick Google will put you onto the access point via doc maps and hunting forums for places to go

    You can't drive the Road between Napier and Wairoa without seeing a hundred of them on the side of the road. There has to be an opportunity through there with some pissed off farmers.

    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
    Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
    Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction

    Rule 5: Check your firing zone
    Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
    Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

    Give forestry maintenance (i think) a bell and you can get a weekend permit through them for one of there blocks just tell them you are after goats and they should be able to help , costs about $20 from memory.

    Hard graft that. Many do a roundup and sell them. They count them as stock up there.

    Most farmers want to muster them as its not bad cash $45 average at the moment. Also there is a market out there for pet food

    To update you all,I got hold of forest management today and yup they are happy to give me a weekend permit for a block,(for a small fee),just got to check to see which ones are avalible,fingers crossed my boy will get his first trophy,and I use that term loosely,but still may get in contact madmoari if that ok
