God Damn is NZ really this expensive???!!!!

I was browsing a listing for various outfitters in NZ. In part to get a gauge of the expense to hunt in NZ when I came across this listing. To say the least, I just got priced out of the fucking market! (Can you tell I am in shock?!).

I am greatly disappointed because I thought NZ would be less expensive and I was really looking forward to a hunting trip here in 2017 for the roar.

    Scotty.

Apparently the first post was not such an anomaly. The price tag for 1 hunter and one "non-hunter" here is $75,000 USD.

    Wow.

its only expensive if you shoot those fancy farm deer. free range public land deer are only a plane ticket away. and a bit or driving.

Holy smokes. No hunting in NZ is not that expensive. Otherwise my wife would never even let me think about it. If you are into the guided hunt type arrangement, I can point you in the direction that will be closer to $500 to $5000 depending on your needs, but hunting on public (DOC) land is free as far as permits etc and you can generally set something up no matter how large or small you budget is.

$500 will get you a one day guided hunt on private property with a refund of $300 if you dont get a deer. (I can promise you will see one, whther you see one you want to shoot there in lies the question) You get yourself to the station, and provide your own food etc. And even that is considered expensive but a lot here

If you look into what the $92k gets you, I think you will find it is not the sort of package you will want. (Helicopters, guides, 400 Stag etc and probably a luxury spa / ski lodge type accomodation and chef prepared meals.) Think 1st class aristocracy versus everyman.....

Like I have $25K for a hunt. Lol.

I have an 8 year old son with a learning disability who needs special education so there will be no "white glove" hunting expedition for me.

You should be able to do a fully guided hunt on private property that would get your boy onto a deer (from a quad if need be?) for less than a grand.
More googling is in order and if you havent already 20pms in your in box pm me I could possibly point you in the direction of a reasonably priced guided hunt.

Vietnamcam, my 8 year old son does archery and his draw weight is barely enough for a turkey. No large mammals for him yet. Lol.

Maybe wait another year till he can?

Not trying to tell you how to do your stuff but If I was to drop 20k(ha ha ha) on an overseas hunt I would rather my boy shot something than me.(my boy turns 8 in may)

+1 to this, we do guided hunts on 100% wild deer, $300 for any animal including stags, no animal no fee.

I think you will find, for that kind of money, will include a chopper ride where you pick the animal of your choice. That animal is then hearded by the chopper to an easy access area that you and your son have been dropped off to. Easier than a turkey shoot
