Will hold off with the moral assault for now, but I'd love to see her carry that, or anything she's shot out.
OK will say how disgusted I am at someone shooting a lion too.
Two minds actually.. I ve enjoyed heaps of her deer hunting vids and good luck to her but honestly do you really need to shoot a lion ?
What bit do you eat ? I know they re on a reserve and culling must be done . Economically from the reserves point of view I suppose the funds help.
This may well cost her employers more than that safari did I reckon !! Its gonna hurt her very public image ..
Depends how her employers , advertiser's feel and react to pressure.
Just eat its things with coke, because oh fuck you know what goes better with coke. Gotta say I've mellowed, I guy I went to school withs into his big game hunting , was telling me about shooting a polar bear, maybe the greenys are getting to me but just doesn't feel right as shooting a Lion doesn't or any of those great animals.
Oh shit I'll be wearing sandals, long socks and stop wearing deodorant, brushing my teeth and shaving shortly! But I'd find it hard to kill that type of animal today.
Call me a softy!

Im not. Wake up. Its not about shooting the Lion. Its not my cup of tea either by the way. Its about these idiots trying to dictate what people should and shouldnt do. Motor racing is not my thing . Shall we ban cars? Neither is blowing guys but is that wrong if gays want to get it on ? The point is where will it stop?
They dont like duck shooting here much. It wont be long and they will try come for your shotguns. Mark my words. United we stand. DIvided we fall.
I wouldn't shoot one either. However - there is nothing morally wrong with it. It is a way of life for some people and who are we to say it is wrong? There are many things that we see as been horrific is perfectly natural in other societies. If big game hunting was a big factor in my life then I may well already have one hanging on my wall. Lions aren't nearing extinction yet and are near the top of their food chain for a reason. Is shooting a Black Bear or Grizzly any different? We all marvel at photos posted on this and other forums. I don't like seeing pigs been hunted with dogs (not that I have much experience by choice) as I think it is cruel for a pig to be chewed by a pack of dogs as it dies squealing
Each to their own
A lion she shot dead lol, Poor lady will get shit for the rest of her life. What do they mean grinning? they say it like its a bad thing. I'd be fucking smiling too! I couldn't care less she shot a lion tbh if she paid for it then its her lion simple as that.
I have nothing against trophy hunting as I try my best to persue it. All the trophies I am interested in you can eat and the fact they taste good, is a bonus.
I will never understand how people can shoot the likes of a bear or the big cats for the wall. There will be as many people who will never understand what I would shoot to hang on mine either.
Each to their own as long as it is safe and legal.
Agree Sako but just me and I think it is an age think, when I was younger Id kill anything, legal that is, but Ive changed and maybe that is you think a little differently at the sharp end of life. I have no problem still hunting for sport or food but just a bit more selective. I think if you read thru this forum most guys enjoy both hunting and conservation,
Nathan, the "antis" have just as much right to their views as you do to yours ;)
I quite often get an initial negative reaction when telling someone that I hunt. After taking a small amount of time to explain that I practise ethical hunting, eat everything I shoot, and that the meat is 100% free range organic, you'd be amazed by how many people start having a better reaction.
The reality is that hunters are in a significant minority in modern society. You might think that it is a case of "united we stand, divided we fall", I'd suggest to you that unless hunters and hunting organisations make a real effort to improve their public relations the slow death has already started. It's up to hunters to change the way the general public perceives us and our pastime, antagonising them is really not a clever long term strategy :D
No problem with it,
Lions are not endangered are they, and generally the Trophy fees charged (for the "Big Five" especially) are enough to make most peoples eyes water, so providing some of it actually makes it to the locals in some way along with guiding fees etc then it makes no difference whether its a lion or a mouse.
Note: I generally only hunt paper or steel but as long as its legal don't have a problem with others hunting live stuff and would shoot a deer if one wandered in front of me at the right time, I eat meat (and almost anything else that moves).
But what would I know.................
And what are you doing about it EBF ? What is your idea of ethical hunting ? Shooting a Lion tied to a tree might be her's ? I agree with you that Hunters are becoming more of a minority here in NZ . How many people have firearms licences now in NZ ? Is it like 250000 out of 4.5 million? The point I was trying to make is ....... Actually I dont know. What I do know is I dont like people getting up others just because they dont agree with what they are doing. Live and let live I reckon. You are right EBF - even hairy legged lesbian vego's are entitled to their point of view.
I am not a trophy hunter and certainly don't understand why someone would want to shoot such a majestic animal but I have no issue with the fact that she will have paid a fee and got a good result for her efforts. It also surprises me not that she has incurred the wrath of the many. I have to fess up that when I first saw the picture I thought to myself "damn I could bang that right there" and I wasn't thinking about the lion.
I personally don't see the point in shooting something like that. Bear, Elephant, Shark :) but this doesn't bug me at all. Each to there own
If the reporters had done a proper job and actually told the whole story, then I think most people wouldn't have too much of a problem. From what I understand it was part of a cull that needed to be done. No big deal.
No I didn't, I only attempt to shoot them things, hopefully santa will bring me something nice in 12g as the 20 is getting too expensive
If it was shot as a "Cull" then I would have even less of an issue. Problem gone and it earned $$, better than dead lion and no benefit. Not my cup of T though
Rushy I thought you had an impressive collection of trophy GONGS hanging round the farm?
killing animals is ok as long as you have fun.
Also remember the world is a changing place, young people don't have ready access to farms as I did when I was younger, most of the young population spend their time on other pursuits, and that's before any of the antis get involved. New Zealand rural population probable still produce most of our hunters/shooters.
Bitch can stand with one foot on my chest as a conquest...then take me home and mount me.
Spook I saw you had replied to this thread and thought you'd have the answer, well done, post a photo of the mount will ya?
Gold Spook I can see and hear ya hahahahahahahahaha
how hard could it be to stalk a lion, he would have known she was there and simply did not gave a single fcuk as he is top of the food chain. to stalk an animal that is constantly fearful of predators is a sport i think, that's no different to shooting a deer in a fenced paddock.Quote:
Stalked inside 60-yards on this beautiful male lion - what a hunt
i talked to a guy in warkworth, south african bloke that organises hunting tours over in africa to shoot elephants etc. After he explained the setup it is fine in my mind, they have too many elephants in the area they go to so they are destroying their own food source, they shoot the old bulls that no longer have dominance and the local tribes go a take the carcass along with a nice donation so it actually helps the locals and their habitat.
Ebf you would take offence I'd Spook told you to fuck off, you'd just agree and leave!:D
So those that don't trophy hunt only shoot hinds and yearlings??
A trophy is what you want it to be IMO
If its a Lion, Tahr, 6 point wap or a 4 pointer red, or a smelly wairarapa goat, and you'll proudly display it and tell the tale of the hunt when asked, then go for it.
Just because you wouldn't have one on your own wall doesn't mean its wrong.
I personally wouldn't have a lion on my wall as I'm not that interested in African species, but the rest of the cats, bears, sheep etc are good to go for me :)
