    Got Him

And you, if are reading this post. First saw sign of this pig 3 weeks ago with a bit of rooting along the edge of the road. I first thought a car had run off the road, till I had a closer look. Any way couldn't do much at the time as I had a fishing contest to lose, You need to catch a fish to be in to win. A couple of days (4) later I rang up my old pig hunting mate and we were back on the spot. The dogs showed a bit of keen and worked around to our left and only were going about 300mtrs away with no strike. And no pig.
Next morning with the Son along, this time we tracked right and gained a bit of altitude. One of the dogs may of struck but if she had, she didn't stop or bail it for to long, as she was back after going 400mtrs and 20mins. The marks in the rooting showed to be reasonable pig. Any way still no pig. As my daughter was trapping in this area, I thought I would use some of the possum bodies to see if I could feed him up and hopefully keep him around till we were ready for another assault. I kept an eye on this spot, but it seemed that it wasn't hungry for Possum.
Yesterday evening I was involved in dealing with a suspicious character who was going around Empty properties looking for work, well so he told me when I caught him on one. As this was going on my old hunting cobber turns up and said that he had just walked on to the pig and if I was keen how about another hunt in the Morning, as I was then other wise occupied.
Plan C then, same as plan A. Cut the up face till we find his track and sidle which ever way the scent is freshest. After about 20 mins 1 of the dogs strikes and then starts to bail. it was decided as the Son ( who has been training to join Savage's gang) was the fittest he should shake his waewae and get up there quick as. About half way up there, the pig breaks back past us nearly nocking the Son out of the way. Name: 20140717_102112_3.jpg

Size: 973.0 KB Down the face we all came pig, 3 dogs and 3 hunters and into the river. The Son then jumps in and sticks it and brings it back to dry ground. A quick check of the dogs, shows that all have some body piercing's but nothing of concern. All up a great quick hunt with no major injuries. A huge carry of 20mtrs, step aside son, dad's got this and we were able to get the pig to a place assemble to a vehicle. A very good condition boar around 130lbs I guess. Son is around 6'5'' so a reasonable pig indeed.Name: 20140717_102355_1.jpg

Well done GA and son. Don't you love it when a plan comes together?
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
