    Grandson's first deer

Took my 12 yr old grandson out on a guided meat hunt Monday night for his first deer. Using my Zastava 243, handloads, off a bipod at 154.6m. Perfect chest shot! 14mth maiden Fallow hind. Yum!

great stuff,go the mighty EBRG Zastava....go Grandad...and GO you new hunter, welcome to the ranks.
now the fun of waiting a few days then enjoying corrupting the young man with medium rare steaks cooked in butter over LPG in cast iron pan and served with lashings of salt on toast sliced white bread with even MORE butter.....make sure Mum isnt looking, best done outside so the juices dripping everywhere can be licked up by dog.Im getting hungry just thinking about that.

Haha, he's already into the meat. Along with 4 siblings. Butchering took place on the back of the trailer with the 7 and 3 year old "helpers" quietly greeting the bagging of each joint with "meat", "meat"...lol

And yes, that Zasty is a fabulous rifle bought off the forum and threaded fir the DPT. Easily rings the six inch gong at 200m off the sticks with the cheap 100gn S&B or Hornady soft points.

I am looking at the carrying capacity of that ultra keen bunch - now half dozen cold ones in each pack thats 2 dozen ohh and some ginger beer for them - big slab of bacon and egg pie each to carry for tea - coffee etc bacon egg for breakfast - lollies muesli bars I reckon with those prospective eager little pack horses ones pack should only be 5kg - just sleeping bag and a few extras -wonderfull - deer each coming out well maybe a hindquarter for the little fellow
