You will want to gut it in place, to roughly halve the carrying weight, and to cool the meat down (the gut retains a lot of heat if left in the animal).
If there is pigs or predator fowl in the area the guts won't last long, but as others have said, don't leave it where other people wouldn't want to find it. Leaving it somewhere nasty will contribute to eroding the reputation of hunting.
