Question Guys I need your help!

So, I'm not into hunting or know very much about it. BUT my boyfriend loves it and has been begging me to come with him on a trip.
He has a big birthday coming up early November so I would like to surprise him by organizing a trip for us.

I don't know much but these are the things I know:
I know he has been wanting to go to the Kaimanawas (is that even how you spell it?!). He only ever goes hunting on open hunting permit land (or something like that).
When we go we will be taking our toddler as well so please keep that in mind when making suggestions.
We have all the gear like sleeping bags, tarps, etc but I would prefer to sleep in a hut.

I don't want to have to involve him in the planning at all. I just want to pick him up after work, drive by our house so he can get his gun but have everything else ready to go.

So, guys, I need your help!
    Where do I go?
    What gear is essential?
Where do we stay the night?
He has been wanting to shoot a deer for a long time now and has come so close so many times I would love for it to happen on his birthday weekend!

I want this to be the best birthday present ever, and I know I've the right idea. Now I just need help with the execution!
    Please help!

Are you interested in hunting in the Kawekas in Hawkes bay, as I can sort out a neat campsite with normal vehicle access and Sika deer no problem.

Our families/children can be in the same campsite so you have company if need be.

That sounds like a great idea! I don't want to give away too many details on here as he roams this forum daily haha Is there like a private chat?

If money isn't too much of an issue then this might be a better second option.

I think the surprise hunt was for 'his' birthday.
Wish mine would do the same - this guy is a very lucky man.

Considering there's a toddler mentioned, and.. oh wait, still completely irrelevant.

Or would you withhold help from someone based entirely on the way they're wired?

What a weird turn this conversation took HAHA
Well, I'm a female and I do not have a single sister LOL especially not one I would pawn off to a guy who asked on a hunting forum

I haven't really made a decision regarding money yet, although I think he might not be very happy with me if I spend all my money on his birthday hahahaha

I'd stay the night at Poronui lodge $30 per night. Then get up next morning and drive two minutes down road and fly into a private block/hut with helisika. The pros are your boyfriend has the block to himself, the toddler will be stoked to fly in a helicopter (I'm sure you and the boyfriend will too) and the hut is yours to enjoy. Most have everything you need at the hut minus the food and sleeping bag/pillow.
