    Haast roar ballot

Just wondering if anyone has any info on the Donald river block 34 or Falls creek block 6, just on animal numbers and maybe what to expect from the blocks, there is very limited info online just trying to make a few decisions so on access and if one block may be better than the other. Not expecting anyone to give me all their secrets just some basic info, cheers.

Its not as if someone hunts those areas on a regular basis, unless by jetboat. Ask away

Cool, I got one too so my lads are happy.

Hope the weather is better than last year.
Good mission anyway I reckon no matter which block you end up in.

    Enjoy

Probably the same as it has been for a while, heli outfit shoots a heap of velvet stags out of there during spring and summer then take the money from the roar hunters in there chasing stags that no longer exist.

Yup. And add in the Wallis crew who hit places like the Waiatoto and pillage it for pet food pre roar. Despite the fact that they have access to huge amounts of private land with shit loads of deer that I’m sure will make good pet food too.

PS: I got McKay Creek in the Cascade. Period 3.

Block 68 for us period 4.

Thats the cool thing about the timing of the haast ballot. 4th period coincides with the first week of the school holidays so great for the kids

    Hi there,

First time posting, just joined the forum, always searched heaps about hunting and read up on this forum the most.

Central North island hunter heading down for my first SI roar through my old man and his mate (who got the ballot) for 2nd period Plateau Creek.

Anyone else been in this block before and can shed any light? Been looking at google earth doing some research, it looks like it may be tops up high? Just wondering if the stags behave differently down there to up here, are they usually up high or down low along the river? Cheers
