I‘m not to comment on firearms safety practices and half cock in specific as a typical Kiwis‘ solution.
Here in Germany we mostly hunt from stands and usually it is safe and practical to have a round in the spout and then
engage the safety. When we climb up and down from stands we empty the spout beforehand though.
Hand cocked rifles become more and more popular over here. In that regard we like our Blasers.
Very safe to use. Would be a perfect bush hunting option. Riflle can be cocked in a second and ready to fire.
Hand cocking options are available for M98 style rifles too.
When hunting with mates spout is empty unless I‘m activly hunting.
Best safety feature sits on your top shelf!
Not surprised when Blaser owners tell me they like manual cocking...
