    Harkness Hut Hunt

Headed in to here for the first time over the weekend, Wondering if anyone has a bit of advice or a nudge in the right direction.

Plenty of bush to hunt, but was wondering about the scrubby faces guts and sunny claypans this time of year. Worth a glass? The area directly across from the track junction looks promising to me, are the faces climable?

    Cheers
    Nick

    Look for the warm spots.

    There won't be many.

Look in the most scrubbiest gully heads you can find and early morning on the bush edges and evening stalking , watch the wind. have fun.

We had a bloody good frost here yesterday so would think it will be very cold at altitude.

Yes the weekend is looking good with light winds

    Cheers

You must like crossing streams. The area has been hit by helicopters a bit over the last few years and so it can be quite tough hunting. There is a video on YouTube by NZ gunsandhunting from about 18 months ago that is worth a look. If flying in with Chris Crosse he will be able to give you some tips, so turn up early and have a cuppa with him. I have not hunted in there for about 15 months and not at this time of year, but feel free to send me a PM.

    Best of luck.

Either bush hunt. Herbs creek etc or head up the harkness valley and glass the shit out of any north facing scrub face
