A 520 will carry a 450kg payload, give or take. So if your 4 are big boys, or you want carry 2 packs each, and a big aresed tent, and a cooker, and a ctn of beer, then there is the possibility that the 520 wont be big enough.

That is true. Four and plenty of gear, I'd go for the squirrel.

Yip Squirrel and then you can shoot half dozen hinds and bring a good load of meat out.

There was a list of operator’s that didn’t take part in the Tahr cull perhaps you could consider giving one of them your $ .

Just a quick search but “seemly” here are companies that should be in the naughty corner , personally I have a rather long memory & would avoid them but that’s your decision to make …disclaimer the list comes from nzhs .

Gus Gordon, Glacier Country Helicopters, Franz Josef.
Michael Glyn, Mountain Helicopters, Fox Glacier.
Bill Hales, Alpine Springs Helicopters, Hanmer Springs.
    Wallises, Alpine Helicopters, Wanaka.
James Ford, Aspiring Helicopters, Matukituki ,
Harvey Hutton, Backcountry Helicopters, Makarora , Wanaka

It’s tough enough for operators as it is without that kind of righteous crap.
The industry isn’t in a position to turn down work at the moment, finance companies don’t discriminate where revenue comes from.
In the end someone will undertake the cull work. DOC will just get operators in from the north Island if push comes to shove.

I couldn’t give a flying fuck what your opinion is , I have a good memory and any hunters that were against the cull should well remember that . If you want to fly with the above company’s go for it , however should someone want to make an informed decision then why not consider the company’s that didn’t take part in the cull.

@Boaraxa just to update your list there, alpine heli (wallises) pulled out of the cull after only a few hours (4.25 approx) due to shitting where they eat. so they can be removed from the naughty corner.
Ahaura helicopters should be added into the naughty corner for their recent social media posts showing 8 chamois bucks on an mia tent shot by 3 hunters. 2 trophies, rest were babies. no need to condone that kind of behaviour when a good chamois buck is hard enough to find as it is! just my 2 cents

Bill Hales has a bit of a rep for being one who would shoot his own Grandma if she tasted of Veni

Sorry to the OP for this getting off topic here.
Redirecting a token $1200 roar trip ain’t going to stop DOC policy and them awarding work to the next lowest bid.

No, its not going to alter DoC's policy. But individuals can only do what they can, and if enough do so it will have some effect.

I do understand your point, but realistically the only outcome will be a moral stance.
In terms of curbing future culls there will be zero effect.
In my experience quoting kiwi hunting parties, they generally run with the closest and cheapest operator to their block.

The only reason you are having a cry about it is because you are a steak holder of some description , im not judging you but as its been alluded to here the cull was a big thing to a lot of folks , A blanket search & destroy went totally against the grain & it only changed when hunters banded together and made there views 1 hundy percent clear with donations & an awesome convoy , not to mention all the media coverage . So it is completely ON topic and by writes we should have a list that is readily available to those that do want to support those companies that did not participate , As you mentioned its tuff time,s at the mo maybe now is a good time to remind those company's not to shit in there own nest .
