Thread: Helisika Golden Hills Airstrip Block.....March booking.......Spots available

It's my mates booking, but he and another are late scratchings.......at very short notice I'm looking for someone (1 or 2 )to share the block and costs for a week.

The Owhaoko BD Trust that administers the block, have closed it for hunting 1 July-30 Sept 2013 and 20 Dec 2013-1 March 2014. This is a first to my knowledge.

The booking is for the first week after it reopens 01 March....and it will remain my mates booking for next year.

I've hunted the block previously.....I'm 56 with a new hip 18 months ago and had knee keyhole surgery last Oct, so happy to cruise about...I got a stag in there last May.

Please refer to the Helisika website for costs, but the 500E is the best option, (2-3 hunters) unless parties combine and use the Squirrel (4-5 hunters).

The 500 is $1280.00 however you split it at 430 kgs max, hut fees are $65.00 per rifle per night.

Typically departure time from Helisika base has been 10 or 1130am.

I'll drive to Taupo on the day from Takanini, Auckland

Could always pay the extra for the other person and tell them he's walking in. Id imagine they only care about the money.

I'd love too but the timing just doesn't work.

Turning 40 on the 2nd so will be hungover from the party on the 1st...otherwise I would have been in like flynn!

Ring and check the price now if your mate no coming who booked the block . Helisika have known to change the price at last minute

Seems like we're all sorted, weigh in Helisika 1100 Sunday morning. Many thanks to those who tried to make it work but couldn't.
