December. I think we shot 12-13 in four days. Could have been heaps more. I'd go to otutu island. Or if you just want to hunt doc land head out to otutu. Heaps of deer out there. You have all the burn area around mt meany. Manson creek. The Manson tops. Options unlimited.

I have been to Rocky Point a few times and always seen plenty, generally walk away with one but I wouldn't shoot the shit out of the place.
Why did you shoot so many, were you paid to have a bomb up???
I'm a firm believer in always leave something behind for the next punter.

I dont really want to go through all this again. I guess we are all different. Between 3 guys over 4 days I dont see a problem with a deer a day. Nothing was wasted , All meat taken.
I wouldnt class this as a bomb up either. Looking back if we hadnt phoned to come out early the number could have been in the twenties. Yes there are plenty of deer living in that tussock.
I still go back into the Kawekas annually 8 years later and hunt some of the most heavily hunted doc blocks there are. Guess what? There are still deer in the same spots at the same time of day doing the same old things. They get shot. I know of another bloke here who woke up at back ridge biv one morning then stolled down the hill shooting 8 sika along the way. Wrong ? Doesnt affect my hunting. There are still plenty of deer in that area. The point is recreational hunters , DOC even commercial operaters will never get the sika out of there. They are too wily and there are too many.

If the meat is harvested I dont have a problem with it. Killing for the sake of it - I wouldnt do it.

Isn't the rules "one deer per hunter and one deer per group"?

We just come out from Mangamingi, didn't see one deer. Lot of carcasses all over the block within easy carry of the hut.

I beleive it was. If the guy at helisika had explained the rules it never would have happened. That aside most were shot on the doc land around Mt Meany anyway. Why would you take a booking under those conditions anyway??
You can go to DOC land see deer and please yourself.
