Cool Help to get first deer.

Ok I got shot down for thinking about paying to get my first deer. So I have a proposal for Pointer or another hunter. As I only get down to the central north island a few times a year I need to try and make it a successful one.

I am happy to offer the use of my batch in Teal bay Northland to someone and there family for a week (see link) if someone can help me get my first deer.

I am off for my first bow hunt for a pig tomorrow but keen to get a deer with gun or bow.

    Regards Johno

Hey Johno, we didn,t shoot you down, we only tried to point out that there is far greater exhilaration from investing some sweat equity into the successful pursuit of a deer in fair chase. Pointer seemed genuine in his offer to take you out. Did you PM him about that?

In the end you are master of your own destiny and if you want to bag a deer on a game park then go ahead and fill your boots. I am sure also that someone will take you up on the offer above.

Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

You will only be as successful as the effort put in. Pm me if you want a hunt in the Kaimai's. I can arrange accomodation if you want to stay.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

    Hi jonno

I am only too keen to take you for a hunt. I shoot with a gun but have spent the last year following my mate around with a video camera as he shoots with the bow ( his tally last year was 7 deer with the bow i think) although we had a crap roar...... 3 weeks and only one sika stag. (only hunted them for 4 days). Between the two of us we can point you in a good direction. I am based in Pongakawa (mid way between Tauranga and Whakatane. I cant take time off work this spring so it will need to be weekends. I have spots all over the central north island and east coast.
I usualy take 3 to 4 weeks for the roar as well if you can drag yourself away from work for some of it.

As much as the batch sounds great all i ask is that for every deer you kill with me you carry and you throw a $50 donation to a charity.
I think this is a fair price??

If your hunting with the bow... expect to go thru a lot of heart ache first but it will make victory taste so much sweeter when you do finaly get some success.

As per what the others have said in your first thread i agree.... The harder you work for it the better it is ..... killing an animal is no fun if you haven outsmarted it in its own free range home ground. and hunting is ony 50% shooting animals and the remainder is the adventure and beers next to the camp fire!

If your keen let me know
