Now we need a petition to get rid of Poto Williams for giving it the go ahead to start with.

It's an interim injunction with a case still to be heard, but a great gutsy move which I really hope brings some rationale to the debacle. Thankyou those who went to the high court, from me.

/\ /\ What he said - once these are gone I don't expect we'll see them replaced.

Exactly - no way will DOC upset local Iwi and rebuild the huts. Under this government DOC has proven to be totally incompetent. Bloody disgraceful that it even happened in the first place and be interesting to watch the possum, rat, pig and deer numbers skyrocket now that local Iwi seem to have full control
More pigs and deer so great for hunting I hear you say but no,no. Invited guests only according to Tuhoe

    Remove pest control.
Then put case forward for 1080.
I’ve already heard doc telling Tuhoe that the reason pig numbers are low in Te Urewera is because possum numbers are high and possums eat flowers which would’ve become berries, and that pig numbers bounce back higher than ever a couple of years after 1080.

I've wondered about this. Do the pigs that survive the drops get a food bonanza from the corpses for a while, helping them get into peak breeding condition? Ditto for helicopter culls. Lots of food just lying around. Then the regrowth in the bush provides food for their piglets. Population boom results.

Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.

This really isn't a DOC issue as such - it's the wrinkles that were never thought about with the co-governance arrangement. DOC are the 'supporting partner' and can't overrule, but on the other hand the other partner isn't supposed to either. The minister isn't required to rubber stamp decisions or give approval as that would be a Crown approval which isn't required under the co-governance agreement. It's a brave new world...

I understand that assets were shared under the agreement?

Back in the 80’s we spent a week in Urewera with a Doc ranger and he said back then that the pig numbers in Urewera were cyclical and built up over 5-7 yrs then dropped again. Was also to do with pigs moving around through different areas n
