Definitely plenty of animals on the landscape these days if you keep your eyes peeled getting about the place. School bus hit a fallow buck behind our farm when we were down south, went straight through the front windscreen caused a hell of a mess blood everywhere (from the deer) and you could pick the towny kids from the country kids all the towny kids were huddled together crying while the farmer kids were pretending they had guns with sticks and posing with dead deer while they got some vans together to come pick them all up

On the highway 50 a stock truck smoked a fallow stag, it was still alive just so I cut its throat, I had to take the kids to town, I asked a mate to grab it and chuck it away. When he went to get it someone had scored it can't imagine the damage when they skinned it.
The neighbours wrote off there Santa fe hitting a big reg last year.
This fallow got smoked buy a car last week was literally a head and legs left, we got called out to wash the road.

When you go through Otematata heading towards Oamarama up the big hill just out of town there's a red spiker in the ditch on the side of the road got smoked a few months back and is still there just a skeleton now

Common occurrence on the roads around here. A few months back a tourist from QT hit a young stag up by Florence Hill, driving a VW Passat wagon. The car was not well but he decided to bubba it and drive to Owaka for repairs. Got as far as the head of Catlins Lake and cooked the motor.
Two yearlings on main road today coming back from Invers in the usual spots south of Purakauiti. Have struck groups of up to four. Even got held up on the way to a fire call-out by an eight pointer who decided that he would just calmly trot in front of the truck, flicking gravel onto my bonnet, all the way down the bloody road. Was sorely tempted to clip him in the ass end and deal to him but he was lucky with time not on my side!!

Saw four fat little piggies in a paddock by SH1 just north of Auckland this evening. It's the second time I've seen wild pigs on that stretch of road.

I could imagine hitting a wild pig at any sort of speed would be a messy affair. Did see a decent size, very dead boar on the main road between Clydevale and Beaumont last year. You would not be a happy camper if you’d hit that thing even if it was one of the logging trucks.
