I have long thought of using hind call but never got around to actually doing it. I was going to use an Elk cow call, they sell them in America. Bleating like a goat will keep them hanging around and circling to cut your wind, I remember doing that a few times after spooking a deer in bush I couldn't see. Conversely, I think roaring like a stag will reassure hinds if they hear you messing around in the bush, they seem to ignore you after they hear that.
Rattling for fallow bucks works well if you know your fallow ground. Never got any reaction from a red stag during the roar doing it though, possibly because their territories are much bigger and they just didn't hear me.
