Im no expert MD but looking at the picture of him lying on the ground he definitely looks "cervus superannuant" and like a lot of us .would find it a chore to get enough tucker let alone a leg over.his headgear seems stunted too so youve probably shown him mercy by ending his torment.
He was still in reasonable nick for post rut...neither of us could drag him on our own,was effort with two of us..I made comment that back in the day folks wouldve been carting him out whole to sell..look on mates face was priceless.
I have given this old boy the royal treatment
