Cheap cheerful comes complete with everything needed in a versatile caliber, I have a Blued one it's a frikin laser and not fussy with ammo.
Plenty left in the budget for a scope upgrade if you wanted.

I like dannyb's suggestion, I've got a 7mm08 & I'm quite restricted for choice of factory ammo. Not an issue if you're going to reload but there's usually a good selection of .308 out there
