    Hunt

Went out this weekend was pretty slack no deer sign or anything and only saw 3 goats though I saw some about 1km away but couldn't cross the creek as it was a little bit fast still with all the rain we've had. Ended up walking out a day early. Here's a vid of the hunt anyway.

Nice going Toby with the gammy leg and all.
I know of a pretty good Rusa taken off the back out your way recently too. Get fit and flag those goats soon.

Toby you are getting about pretty well. What do you reckon we plan something late October?

Yup Rushy. Didn't miss much brads.

Gotta find a new place with deer this place seems to be shit. That forestry will be gone soon they are getting ready to cut it out. New tracks all up there got a feeling that's whats pushed everything away.

Should add to the story I walked out a day early as I spent the Friday night out there and ended up freezing in the Hennessy hammock. Guess it needs to have insulation under neath in the cold so I pulled out Saturday night. If there was deer sign I would have stayed and made a small place to sleep in the ferns but since there was no deer sign and even lack of goats I started walking out. Was meant to get picked up on Sunday at about 12 but I had this crazy idea of walking out till I got reception on my phone. 3 kms and I got a connection but had no fucking credit but saw a IOU thing on my phone so did that they give you $5 and just take it out of the next top up. Any way sent a txt to mum to ask for a ride a txt to my mate to ring my parents and ask just incase my mum didnt get a txt then a few face books messages and emails came through and chewed up my credit. Waited 30min no replys so I had a feeling they never got them and just kept walking. Got pretty much to Whakaki and walked into a randoms house to borrow the phone. Had a cup of tea and a cake and after a wee chat found out he wasn't a random. He knew my little brother (worked on a farm with him) knew my real dad step dad granddad and I had seen him when I was culling goats on another farmers place. worked out pretty good.

This was the walk out. Pretty safe to say my legs are sore as and knee is pretty swollen. One thing I will note is none of the cars that past me batted an eye lid at the sight of the rifle on my back.

Also here's a rabbit that I was going to shoot but didn't because another one didn't walk behind it. There were 3 of them and I was only going to waste a bullet for 2

That's a bit of a walk, but good on ya!

Have you tried to bicycle on the leg yet? Might help ease the long walks on gravel roads.
