better chuck in some bolt cutters in the truck
I have always had my dogs on a rope about 15 ft long when taking them on hunt when they have little experience on deer to slow them down when needed. It will take a while to break him of it. My opinion is is if you got him for deer, only use him on deer don't allow him to hunt rabbits hare wallaby etc. Having a dog that is a Jack of all can lead to trouble
COntrol on rabbits is the same as control on deer. I would take him back to the basics and slowly re-introduce him to game in areas of expected success where you are confident he will behave as you want him to, the rope dragging behind would be a useful handbrake if needed and only achieving a kill when he behaves as he should will reiforce the role he is meant to play to achieve a successful hunt. Hes got a fair bit of spark, with the right direction he could be very good.
You need to go right back to the start . If it was me i wouldnt be going to a place with alot of game !! Hunting block sort of thing . Your dog will get confused.
Think of the Dog and if theres all sorts of animals , Fallow , Reds , Tahr and the likes it wont know whats going on , If he bolts a couple of more times you may never stop him from doing it .
Cheers guys I appreciate your help and input .
