    Hunting Aotearoa

Did I just witness someone taking a shoot at a stag resting the rifle on the shoulders of the shows presenter?

Great way to educate new hunters!
I laugh a the lor and pride of man, at the sophist schools and learned clan. For what are they all in high conceit, when man in the bush with god may meet?

I have done that plenty of times. When you need a rifle rest you need a rifle rest.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Riding on the quad 2 up on goat patrol with a AR or bolt action, have used the shoulder of the driver many many times, standard procedure. The same safety rules apply to the process, a live round is only chambered once the rifle is in position and safety only disengaged immediately prior to pulling the trigger. Double discipline is required with the AR as it is with any semi-auto. As long as the driver wears muffs or ear plugs he’s fine, plus a tolerance to spent brass down the back of his neck.

Must say the program seems a step up on previous series.

    Exactly

Wouldn't recommend it with a braked rifle though

A rest is a rest. If it works it ain't stupid. Pretty standard practice for most anti-armour or heavy cal weapons so why would it not lend itself to smaller calibres if the situation dictates? BBDA Clear!
