    Hunting Diary

Who does on and what sort of info do you note down? Going to start one to keep track of good and bad days.

Would be interesting to see any trends over a few years, I don't at present but things like weather conditions, moon phase, hunting pressure in the area, month/week would all be good info.

Yeah thats my thinking. Father in law gave us his old fishing diary a few years ago and that is very handy.

Yeah i feel ya. My first note is just date, weather leading up to and time shot. Pretty easy to jot a few words but whether i make a note again will be the test ha ha. Probably loose my note book or i'll open it and it will have scribbles of unicorns all through it

Well worth doing, got 4 years of info so far and is a great tool to get a feel for when certain areas click, not to mention recording some history for when your in the rocking chair.

    Normally have the following info
Hunting party, date, area, weather conditions, animals seen/ animals shot
Then a brief account of the hunt etc.

Just don't let the wife see it

Could use the calender on your phone?
Add a note on the day, save the weather info and take a photo with geotags on?

Used to have one for a couple of years but ya gotta be pretty dedicated to it. Sometimes the last thing ya feel like doing at the end of a slog is get your diary out and fill it in. Especially if you forgot your bloody pen - lead tip bullets are a prick to write with....but if your dedicated to it they are pretty handy and cool to look back on

That would have all bases covered if your techno savy, I fill mine out at home, usually remember what happened within a week of the trip
Now that I remember I did use my notes feature on iPhone when we walked into otutu a few years back

Don't do t myself but if you have a phone, you could record a quick message at the time or later at camp and write it up when you get home!?

I keep one. Have done for about 5 years. I record in a journal when including times, where and who with, what's shot, range and rifle and weather. Plus any other details of interest like bullet performance.

I also have hand drawn maps of my hunting spots and mark all of the kills with an X, rifle and range.

I wish I had started it 50 years ago.

Yup I keep a diary. In the very front on the year planner I write what and have a tally at the bottom of each month. Then on the corresponding day write what, who with and maybe distance and also where. Interesting reading back over the years. Have done this for last 4-5yrs
