Thread: Hunting Gunn River

Hey guys, anyone been up Gunn River lately? I'm doing a fly in trip end of this month for 5 nights. Hoping for that and anything else really

Been up Reynolds but not Gunn. No doubt wont be to hard to get into a chamois

Oh yeah sweet, hopefully there are one or two that left, four of us going in.

Just been up the Gunn Basin area saw about 20 tahr and 4 chamois nothing decent size.
Couldn't get dropped up onto the ridge to clagged in but sounded like no one had been up there for a while

Cold, no tahr a few chamois. Reasonably limited hunting opportunity as it was so icy when I was there

Never realised what a popular spot this is, we are also flying in, in a few weeks and I know of at least another party also scheduled to fly in there too around the same time.....

Whataroa gets a fair bit of attention as it's a pretty cheap flight compared to most places
