I'm Hunting Pureroa Forest this weekend, does anyone who has hunted there before have any tips or stories of their experience?

well secured vehicle with no obvious valuables left inside, take secateurs for dealing with supplejack because it can be really thick in places
The deer are up high according to two people I have talked to, and the sign I saw last week backed that up
Watch out for other hunters....she’ll be busy....

Was in there Monday. Its freakin dry and like walking on cornflakes so really testing your bush stalk ninja moves.
Kaimais the driest I’ve seen them too, struggled to find water for the dog.
That rewarewa in pureora whereby go is killer when dry. Dry all round central ni at moment
Heading into the kaimais this weekend so will be interesting. Only 3rd time in there and first proper bush hunt which is stupid considering its it's the closest bit of bush. Always good to learn a new area.
Was real dry out of the creek in the ureweras this weekend. How did you go in the pureoras mate?
Has anyone been up to the wildlife hut in the north Pureoras lately? I'm thinking of staying there or at least leaving my truck there next weekend
We had a good walk yesterday, fairly warm but plenty of sign especially down in the gullies and above about 700m. Managed to get the 16yo within 15m of a deer but it departed before he got the rifle loaded. Kicking myself a bit because I told him to take the scope cover off and sneak in on the spot, and nearly but didn’t tell him to drop a round into the singleshot, by the time he got a round out of his pocket it was too late.
Had a nudge in there this weekend, Bobba was bloody right about the cornflakes - stalking in socks could be the ticket. No deer seen but good sign.
