    Hunting/shooting/government

I apologise for posting this here, but I wanted it noticed, and if admin want to move or delete it, fair call. But I hope however, a little latitude might be in order.
I just thought it represents the view of MOST of us here, and it wouldn't be a bad thing if we could re-send it to the people in our individual address books, and get the message out there. We are currently facing the most dangerous situation the modern day NZ has ever seen, and, we also have the virus too!

This is like having a neighbours dog crap on your lawn - it stinks and they are lazy pricks for not keeping it under control.

The message itself is dog-whistle stuff, by a past their "use-by" whistler. Thank goodness we live in a representative democracy.

I couldn't get past this statement early on "By attempting to eliminate the virus, New Zealanders will never gain natural immunity to the disease. That means until a vaccine is available, it will not be safe for New Zealanders to travel overseas."
She may have a PhD in Mathematics but she clearly has no understanding of how immunity works.

How is this " dog whistle , stuff " . There are serious calls even from the medical profession that this was over blown .

You make your own mind up , but remember to look past the propaganda . The real fear is what comes next from the virus , and it will come back , and the reaction from our so called Representatives .

So how does immunity work then?

Hey thanks for posting. It helps to articulate some of our concerns and thoughts clearly.

Interesting times indeed and I pray and hope that NZ can use their votes to elect a more democracy focused and fair Govt. Go ACT haha

Bloody hell @Saxguy - don't apologise for something obnoxious and then go ahead and do it anyway, and think that absolves you. There's a section on this forum for political rants that many of us deliberately avoid. Don't leave it to someone else to police and then join with the others whingeing about 'censorship'.

I got a fair way through this article and gave up looking for anything to do with hunting or shooting. Not to say I didn't listen to Dr Newman's point of view and agree with a number of her points, but if I wanted to get bogged down in an ideological debate, there are plenty of other corners of the internet I could visit to do so. I come here to get away from that shit. Please man-up and move this thread yourself.

Re. your comment that it represents the majority viewpoint on here, I'm calling BS on that too. It represents the viewpoint of the pissed-off vocal minority that use this forum to air their frustrations. Be careful of assuming that a lack of voiced opinions to the contrary means that fewer people are holding them. You're just living in an echo-chamber. There's possibly a responsibility on those others to speak up in disagreement, but the belligerence of the protagonists causes people like myself to assume we're wasting our breath and likely to get abused in the process.

Cue posts shooting me down to make my point exactly...

I made the suggestion on the governments Covid-19 facebook page when they released how many had died from the virus that maybe they include how many people had died from suicide and also how many died from not being able to get the surgery they required during this time.

Unsurprisingly, they banned me. No one can question this govt, they just silence you.

If you get the measles or mumps once you get immunity. I think I am right so far.

If you get a cold or the flu, you get no immunity; you can catch it again next season or even again in the same season.

There isn't a vaccination for the common cold and the exotic flu varieties that circle the globe each year, the vaccination that you get is only good for that strain. Have I got it right so far or have I gone off track already?

The world laboratories are going flat out to find a vaccination for the Convid-19. They will get it, I am sure. But like the exotic flu's we face each year, it mutates.....so you are always looking for a new vaccine. Anyone step in and tell where I am wrong.

Initially it was thought that we could fight Convid-19 with herd immunity, i.e. you get it, you are immune, so you try and get your entire population to get the virus in a controlled manner, but even then some will/are dying.

But hold the phone.....latest reports are that you don't get an immunity to the virus, you can and do become re-infected, I guess much like the common cold but this virus is more deadly.

So the way I see it is....

Option A. If getting the virus gives you immunity, then lets go for heard immunity.

Option B. If getting the virus once you can again get re-infected, then the only antidote is keeping the population safe until a vaccine or complete world elimination.

Then, if the virus is mutating, a vaccine is always just playing catch-up.

Where, if anywhere has my reasoning gone wrong. Those who know please educate me.

    Cheers
    Phil
i have never had the mumps, measles or chickenpox. ....ohhhh s__T!!!
