    Hunting Waiarapa

Hi guys, i am moving to the Waiarapa this summer for work and just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for hunting. I have tried a few spots in the Haurangi's in the past with limited success. I have also done a bit of hunting the the Tararua's on that side of the range and found it quite good if you are prepared for a bit of a foot slog.

Anyway any advice would be much appreciated.

    Feel free to PM me.

    Cheers,

    Josh

The Tararuas is very good if your prepared to put in the miles. whats wrong with doing the distance? I pull 10-15 deer a year out of the tararuas alone by walking further than most. do the hard work and it will pay off.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Yep, you are targeting the 2 mostly likely areas, the Tararuas and Haurangis.
Now just concentrate on some specific spots so that you get to know them really well and perseverance will give you the rewards. Even the most popular spots will yield deer, especially if you give yourself the comparative advantage of knowing where they hang out and what they get up to during the seasons (not wanting to be patronizing...maybe you already know this stuff).

I reckon on public land, there are very few short cuts to getting a deer.

Once you get yourself into it, PM me and I will see what I can do to help.
