Looks like he should be a nice 10, may even sneak another couple of tops on there! Looks like he might have some decent tine length - although he's got that small bez which plagues our herd here.
We also have a big occurance of one missing bez on our stags, do you guys get that often?
He has your name on him Tahr. Go get him late March
late march sounds like the buisness rushy. before the flod of people arrive for the kaos season.
Nice animal ,thanks for sharing
He should be a neat stag if you catch up with him.
Bro its behind a fence!
And on the wrong side too. I can't shoot on there, it's private land. But there's a good chance he will come over into the bush for hinds during the roar.
This is the one I saw last year in the same place in the velvet.

Looks like you have your shit sorted then:)
Nice!
Nice spread & length but think I'd leave him another year ,might go 12 or 14 points by then .
Maybe him...last night.

Yeah. He had a bit on him.

It was only last night that I shot him. But no, didn't keep the head skin. He's 40Lx35W. I would want a better one if I was going to the expense of mounting one. He's close though.

A better one? mate you must get some bloody big deer to say something 40" long isnt worth mounting haha thats our magic number here for length.
Lot of air in between those antlers too 35" wide is awesome. Have you got any mounts? if so wanna chuck up some pics?
How far was the shot on that fella? what did you use?
Have far too carry him?. Thats a beast:cool:
His bey on one side is a bit short. 6.5x55 Schultz & Larsen, SST @ 2800fps. Back of the base of his neck, at 190 yards. He was on the move and slightly up hill.
Dundee, in the Waewaepas. 2.5 hrs walk out, 1.5 hrs walk in. Home here at 2.30am. Took the head, back steaks, rumps and what else off his arse I could carry.

Yeh I saw that the bez was a bit short, I spose its all in the eye of the beholder. I'm impressed by the genetics I'm seeing there, look forward to seeing you with a real big boy one day.
Oh yeh I love the 6.5 and the sst's are a great little projectile, I use them through my 270 and they put on the hurt something fierce.
Its not that long ago that Neckshot and I were up there. Well done:thumbsup:
Same place, last May. A very similar head; last nights one is bigger but not as heavy.

Anyone can get them and you will get one too if you stick to it.
What are the Schultz and Larsen like? I had one ordered and was meant to come in last Dec but found out end of Dec that it was gunna be closer to mid year so bought a Sako Bavarian instead. Still wouldnt mind one one day, they come up so nicely but feel like they'd be a big kicker - like a steyr!
Love it. Mines the "Classic" model, non switch 21.5" barrel. At least the equal of a Sako. They can be a bit heavy, but mine has a light bit of wood on it. Mines taken a right old beating and has never let me down. Recoil was no problem, but got a suppressor on it now for mine and the dog's ears.
I worry about losing the mag. That's the only negative feature. But I would have another one in a heart beat. The suppressor doesn't change the point of impact. It holds its zero well and shoots everything I've fed it under an inch at the max.
Yeh I envy you guys and your suppressors, if you find the right bloke here you can get one made but if you get caught its curtains for your gun license and possible jail time so just not worth the risk funnily enough ha
Really? I handled a 243 and it was light as buggery and just had that same feel as my bros steyr which kicks like a clydesdale especially when I was getting one in 300WM, having said that it was the interchangable barrel model - cant remember the name, so that might be the difference.
I know what you mean about the mag, the button looks and works great but functionality in the bush is another thing.
Are you aloud brakes in aus?
Hahaha
nah man suppressors are very much illegal here.
The way some drive Tahr I dont think brakes are compulsary ha
Nice and fat and a nice head to boot:thumbup:
